Mace is the main contractor for The Shard London Bridge project uses Asta PowerProject as its planning software tool. All the schedule programmes are created in this PowerProject for import into the 4D modelling software to create 4D Building Information Modelling (BIM) (3D CAD + PowerProject scheduling). The power of visualisation, coordination, simulation and optimisation from 3D, 4D, and BIM computer technologies allow Mace to meet customer, design, construction, and program requirements more effectively.

2004

Eleco entered a team in the Construction Industry's Little Britain Challenge Cup at Cowes this year in support of the Cirdan and Jubilee Sailing Trusts which provide disadvantaged people the opportunity for self-development through sailing.

SpeedDeck uses on-site rolling to construct a 53,000 square metre roof on Amazon.com's warehousing complex in Milton Keynes.

Eleco introduced a Program to encourage employees to take up higher education opportunities at Open Universities and other educational establishments.

Eleco Technology was formed to focus on R&D for Eleco Group and the development of specialised construction software.

1980

1968

Goodes Silos Ltd, a well known supplier of concrete retaining walls was acquired. Over the years this business has grown and prospered so that today a comprehensive range of precast retaining wall and other standard products including stadia, are produced at the 10 acre Grantham works of Bell & Webster.

Davis Sheet Metal Engineering Company acquired. Davis were one of the original innovators that developed the uniquely British system of cabe trunking. By 1975 Davis were one of the earliest suppliers of underfloor trunking and boxes for commercial office wiring. During the 1980's Davis had developed a full range of cable management products including tray, trunking, support channels and underfloor systems. 

Eleco takes on the subcontract manufacture of the Abtus range of rail track measurement and maintenance equipment through its acquisition of Argyle Engineering. The Abtus product range originated in 1919 when Major Tustain set up a company to supply equipment that would improve the productivity of permanent way maintenance gangs. The Abtus Company Ltd was acquired outright by Eleco in 1991.

1960

Bell & Webster Industries Ltd was acquired. This acquisition established Eleco as a supplier of structural systems as well as generating an opportunity for the later development and sale of its industrial units at its 35-acre Hoddeson site.

1959

This new Lantern heralds a new era in Motorway and Major Road Lighting and has been installed on the first Motorway to be lit in Britain, on the Glasgow-Edinburgh road between Baillieston and the Glasgow boundary. The official 'switch-on' took place at 9.40pm on Friday, 29th May, 1959.

The Lantern was designed in co-operation with Denis R. Colvin, Esq., County Lighting Engineering to the Lanarkshire Country Council, with whom we are privileged to be associated in this installation which makrs the first progressive step in the new field of fast Motorway Lighting.

1957

The 'SILVER RAY' Street Lighting Lantern has been especially designed to use the new 250/400 watt colour corrected MBF/U Fluorescent Mercury Discharge Lamp.

Where colour rendering is of prime importance, such as in shopping areas, the 'SILVER RAY' is eminently suitable.

Attractive styling with clean lines depicting present and future trends added to a low cost and high efficiency in comparision with present Fluorescent Street Lighting Fittings, are strong selling points in this very competitive market.

The 'UNIVERSAL 100' by ELECO is the first street lighting lantern to utilise cast 'Perspex' tubing, incorporating a scientifically designed machined 'Perspex' prismatic formation and giving a symmetrical light distribution. This feature, together with its low cost and high efficiency, makes the 'UNIVERSAL 100' the most attractive proposition available.

Company changed name to the Electric Lighting and Engineering Company

By this time the Company had already established itself by supplying the lanterns for the lighting of the Victoria Embankment in London. They incorporated several technical innovations.

Company founded as The Gilbert Arc Lamp Company, Chingford, Essex, later moving to the Roman market town of St Albans, Hertfordshire.
