Senior Quality Engineer
ShireSystem, part of Eleco Asset Management, is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to help ensure the quality, reliability and stability of a mission-critical CMMS platform used by organisations to manage maintenance operations, asset performance, compliance and safety-related processes.
This is a senior, hands-on quality engineering role within a growing R&D team. You’ll work closely with Product, Engineering, DevOps and customer-facing teams to embed quality throughout the development lifecycle — from planning and automation through to release readiness, regression prevention and production support.
The platform supports customers in asset-intensive and regulated environments, so quality here is about much more than UI testing alone. We’re looking for someone who can think broadly about quality across enterprise workflows, integrations, data integrity, performance, reliability and risk. We also want someone who is comfortable working in an engineering environment where AI-enabled solutions and AI-assisted ways of working are becoming increasingly important.
As Senior Quality Engineer, you’ll play a key role in strengthening quality across the platform and helping the wider team deliver robust, dependable software. You’ll:
- Design and oversee test strategies, test plans and test cases aligned to both business and technical requirements
- Lead functional, regression, integration and system testing across core product areas
- Drive the development and maintenance of automated test suites, integrating them into CI/CD pipelines and improving test coverage over time
- Support testing across complex workflows involving APIs, databases, mobile applications and third-party / enterprise integrations
- Plan and execute performance, load and stress testing to help ensure scalability and reliability
- Lead defect triage, prioritisation, root-cause analysis and verification of fixes
- Work closely with developers, product managers and DevOps teams to translate requirements into effective test coverage and meaningful quality reporting
- Help validate areas such as security controls, role-based access, auditability and data protection, particularly where the platform supports regulated environments
- Improve QA practices through approaches such as shift-left testing, risk-based testing and feedback loops from production issues
- Support release and production activities, including deployment validation, post-release monitoring and issue investigation
- Mentor and support other QA engineers, helping to raise standards and strengthen quality practices across the team
We’re looking for a quality engineer who combines strong technical testing capability with a broader quality mindset and the confidence to operate in a complex enterprise software environment.
We’d particularly like to hear from people with experience in:
- Senior QA / Quality Engineering roles within software product teams
- Designing and executing risk-based test strategies for enterprise systems
- Building or maintaining test automation frameworks and integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines
- Testing APIs, integrations, SQL / databases and data-heavy workflows
- Defect investigation, root-cause analysis, regression prevention and release-readiness support
- Collaborating closely with developers, product and DevOps teams in Agile environments
- Leading quality initiatives, mentoring less experienced QA engineers and improving QA processes
- Working with large, integrated software products such as CMMS, ERP, SaaS or other complex B2B platforms
- Performance, scalability and reliability testing in production-focused software environments
AI is an important part of where this team is heading, so we want this to be visible in the role rather than buried in the small print.
We’d be especially interested in people who have:
- experience using AI tools to accelerate test development, improve coverage or support QA workflows
- exposure to testing AI-enabled functionality within web or enterprise applications
- an interest in how AI can improve software quality, automation and engineering efficiency
- confidence operating in teams where AI is becoming part of both product capability and internal engineering practice
