ShireSystem User Groups 2026: Practical Insights, Product Innovation and the Future of Maintenance

During October, ShireSystem customers, partners and maintenance professionals came together at our 2026 User Group events to share experiences, explore industry trends, discuss product developments and learn how organisations are getting more value from their maintenance operations. The sessions reinforced a common message: the greatest opportunities often come not from wholesale transformation, but from making better use of the people, processes, data and systems already in place.

A Focus on Practical Improvement

The User Groups were designed around a simple objective: creating a forum where customers could influence future priorities, learn from one another and gain practical ideas they could take back to their organisations. Key themes included how to get more from existing ShireSystem investments, where Eleco is investing for the future, and what maintenance professionals across the wider market are telling us.

Throughout the events, one message stood out consistently. Successful maintenance improvement is not driven by technology alone. It depends on strong fundamentals, reliable data, effective planning, skilled people and continuous improvement.

Eleco’s Direction for Asset Management

Attendees received an update on Eleco’s Asset Management strategy , direction and priorities. The focus remains on strengthening CMMS fundamentals, improving usability, enabling better connectivity, delivering stronger reporting and analytics, and introducing AI capabilities where they solve genuine maintenance challenges.

Customers also heard how continued investment in ShireSystem is helping modernise the platform while protecting the trusted functionality organisations rely on every day.

What We Learned from Maintenance Maturity Reviews

One of the most discussed sessions focused on Maintenance Maturity and the findings from more than 100 customer reviews completed to date. The presentation highlighted recurring themes seen across many maintenance operations, including:

  • Underutilised functionality within existing CMMS environments
  • Challenges with data quality and reporting
  • Late work orders and reactive ways of working
  • Compliance pressures
  • Opportunities to improve asset visibility and maintenance planning

Real-world customer examples demonstrated how relatively small changes to processes, reporting and system usage can deliver meaningful operational improvements.  Customer examples showed how changes to processes, reporting and system usage can support better organisation, stronger reporting and more informed maintenance decision-making.

State of Maintenance 2026: Key Findings

Delegates also received an overview of Eleco’s first State of Maintenance and CMMS survey, which explored the challenges facing maintenance teams today. The findings highlighted several important trends:

  • Unplanned downtime remains a significant operational challenge.
  • Preventive maintenance is widely understood but often difficult to protect and execute consistently.
  • Skills and training are viewed as having greater impact than emerging technologies alone.
  • Digital maturity varies considerably across organisations.
  • Ease of use, reporting and mobile capabilities remain higher priorities than advanced AI features for many maintenance teams.

The discussion emphasised that organisations typically achieve the greatest value by improving maintenance processes, strengthening data quality and increasing adoption before pursuing more advanced technologies.

Turning Data into Actionable Insight

Another popular session demonstrated how custom BI dashboards can help organisations transform maintenance data into meaningful operational insight. Attendees explored practical reporting applications spanning work management, inventory control, KPI monitoring, compliance reporting and maintenance performance analysis.

The message was clear: maintenance data becomes most valuable when it helps teams make faster, more informed decisions.

Looking Ahead: The ShireSystem CMMS Roadmap

Product roadmap discussions generated significant interest across all events. Customers received a preview of planned developments across mobility, compliance, usability, integration and AI-supported functionality. Upcoming developments included enhancements to MobileProX, Permit-to-Work functionality, dashboards, reporting, API connectivity and AI-powered user assistance.

A recurring theme throughout the roadmap was practical innovation: delivering improvements that make everyday maintenance work easier, improve connectivity between systems and help users access information more effectively.
