This role-specific course has been developed to help organisations unlock the full planning and scheduling capabilities of ShireSystem. Designed in response to customer demand, it provides a practical blend of maintenance planning best practice and hands-on system training to help maintenance teams improve efficiency, maximise asset availability and achieve stronger schedule adherence.

Delegates will learn how to use ShireSystem more effectively to plan, schedule and coordinate maintenance activities, whilst adopting proven industry practices that improve operational performance. From creating structured work management processes and optimising resource utilisation to enhancing reporting and task management, this course provides the knowledge and confidence needed to deliver better maintenance outcomes.

As part of our continued commitment to supporting maintenance best practice, the course will also reference t a high level, key reliability engineering concepts that help maintenance teams better understand equipment performance and failure, examples being Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), and practical Root Cause Analysis (RCA) techniques. These approaches help organisations move beyond fixing symptoms to identifying and addressing the underlying causes of asset failure, supporting more effective preventive maintenance and continuous improvement.

Objectives

At the end of the course, delegates will have a comprehensive understanding of planning and scheduling principles, together with the ShireSystem functionality that supports them. They will be able to apply best practice techniques to improve planning efficiency, increase workforce productivity, reduce downtime and maximise the value of their ShireSystem investment.

Delegates will also gain an understanding of how structured failure analysis and root cause investigation can be used to improve maintenance strategies, reduce repeat failures and support long-term asset reliability.

This course is recommended for Maintenance Planners, Schedulers, Supervisors, Team Leaders, Maintenance Managers, Reliability Engineers, and anyone responsible for planning, scheduling or coordinating maintenance activities using ShireSystem.

Prerequisites

To gain maximum benefit from this course, delegates should:

  • Have previous experience using ShireSystem.
  • Have attended either the ShireSystem Super User or Essential Administrator course within the previous 18 to 24 months.
  • Have a good understanding of ShireSystem navigation and core functionality.
