Another way is to link programme activities with BIM models to create visual construction sequences and project simulations. Instead of reviewing rows of tasks on a Gantt chart, project teams and stakeholders can see how a project is expected to be built over time.
For many contractors, these visual outputs can help bridge the gap between planners, project managers, site teams and clients. They can make programmes easier to understand and encourage more productive discussions around delivery, risk and progress.
Building Programmes And Schedules That Reflect Reality
Programmes also need to reflect how work will be delivered. Many project schedules begin as a collection of activities and dates, but without clear visibility of dependencies, logic and sequencing, they can quickly become difficult to manage.
The session demonstrated how understanding predecessor and successor relationships within a programme helps teams identify the knock-on effects of change. When project teams can clearly see how activities are connected, it becomes much easier to understand risk, prioritise decisions and maintain confidence in the schedule.
